Issues: Our Economy
 
As Oregon’s State Treasurer, I will provide a strong voice for our state's economic opportunities.  As an entrepreneur, I know what small businesses and start-ups need. My first responsibility will be to manage our financial and natural resources well, so that we may support businesses, create jobs and provide the services our citizens need.
 

  Maintain Oregon’s strong tradition of fiscally responsible investments to earn the highest possible returns and save taxpayer dollars.
     
  Create a favorable economic climate for business by continuing to position Oregon to improve our bond rating.
     
  Provide wise management of our state's resources including lands, waterways, coastal areas, minerals and energy as an active member on the State Land Board.
     
  Champion infrastructure investments that will create jobs and increase our productivity including transportation, bridges, environmentally sound water-supply and conservation projects, energy transmission projects and energy conservation efforts in public buildings.
     
  Promote entrepreneurship, innovation and small businesses to create and maintain Oregon jobs.
     
  Implement the Oregon Health Fund, passed by the 2007 Legislature as part of the Healthy Oregon Act, to help businesses and individuals lower health care costs by pooling their health care dollars to leverage their buying power and share their risks.
